What does press-fitting a cylinder liner cost?
From around €249 net per cylinder – including press-fit and honing to your target dimension. Price depends on bore size (70–160 mm), liner type (dry / wet) and whether oversize bores or special alloys (Nikasil, high-alloy) are requested. The binding fixed price comes back in 5 min. from our configurator.
When does sleeving make sense vs. oversize pistons?
Oversize pistons are cheaper, but only possible if the engine was designed for them and the wall thickness still permits another oversize step. In case of deep score marks (> 0.25 mm), seizure, excess clearance > 0.12 mm or if the block has already been bored to max oversize, there's no way around sleeving. We check this on the incoming block and give an honest recommendation before starting work.
Dry or wet liner – what's the difference?
Dry (press-fit) liners are interference-pressed sleeves with no direct coolant contact. Standard in passenger-car engines. Wet liners sit with their outer surface in the coolant jacket and are sealed with O-rings – typical in trucks, marine, tractors. We do both.
How long does press-fitting and honing take?
3–7 business days from arrival of the engine block, depending on cylinder count and workload. Pre-booked jobs usually on the machine the next day. Express handling on request against surcharge. You get photo documentation on inbound and outbound, plus the measurement protocol.
How do I ship my engine block?
Up to 2 cylinders: DHL package (free, shipping label via email). From 3 cylinders: freight up to 50 kg – we arrange pickup, you just need a pallet. Or bring it in person to Waldbröl (workshop reception Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00, Sat 09:00–13:00). All transports insured.
Which engines and bore sizes do you handle?
Bores from 70 mm to 160 mm: passenger-car inline-four to V12, marine diesel, truck, tractor, stationary, vintage and motorsport engines. Special requests (Nikasil, high-alloy, extreme oversize) – please call.
Do I get a measurement protocol?
Yes, with every job. We measure bore, roundness, cylindricity and surface roughness after honing. The protocol is digital (PDF) and ships with the block. For later questions (engine failure, warranty claim) the protocol is your evidence.
What warranty do you give on the sleeving?
24 months warranty on press-fit and honing. No mileage limit when the engine is assembled correctly by a workshop. For private DIY assembly, statutory warranty applies.
